Through the help of our volunteers (see below), good weather, and a whole lot of hard work, Radix Farm is bursting with vegetables. To share the bounty, we’ll be at a new farmers market in Ballston, VA starting Thursday, June 28th from 3-7 pm. Started by FRESHFARM Markets (a non-profit that operates 11 producer-only markets in the DC area), the new market is located at Welburn Square (North Taylor and Stuart Streets). We’ll be there through October 25th, so stop on by and support another great farmers market (and Radix!).
For those in DC, you can also find us at the Petworth Community Market every Friday from 4-8pm on 9th St, between Georgia Ave and Upshur St.
While we are working long hours with the summer upon us, we couldn’t produce what we do without the help of some dedicated volunteers. On June 2, we held the first (of many) Volunteer Days at the farm. Folks trellised the newly planted hops, inoculated shiitake mushroom logs, transplanted sweet potatoes, and — best of all — helped us with some weeding! After raising the hop trellis, we appropriately enjoyed some hoppy beer, and some homemade iced herbal tea. If you’d like to volunteer and see what farm life is like, please contact us to learn more.
